9 Year Old Kid Writes Letter To NASA Asking To Be Considered For A Job



Working in NASA is every space enthusiast's dream, including me! But this 9 year old boy was so curious and interested that he wrote a job application letter to NASA to get an opportunity to work with the astronauts.

In the letter written by a young boy named Jack Davis who is a fourth grader from New Jersey wrote the letter to NASA to apply for the post of Planetary Protection Officer which according to the internet pays around $150,000 per anum and duties include planning activities related to planetary protection against microbial contamination and coordinating space safety missions. The letter was given to ABC News by Jack's parents in which he mentions that despite his young age he thinks that he is "fit for the job"


To explain the reason behind applying for this position, Jack wrote "One of the reasons is my sister thinks I'm an alien". To further prove his eligibility for the post jack stated "Also, I have seen almost all the space and alien movies I can see." In the skills Jack mentioned his qualities that will make him the perfect candidate for the job like "great" video game skills, his young age, which will help him to "learn to to think like an alien" and then ends the letter by signing "Jack, The Guardian of The Galaxy"

In the interview conducted by ABC News Jack said that he wrote the application to NASA because it would be "really cool" to work with NASA and "I feel Like, I am the only one who really wants a job at NASA this young"

Although the job may no exist in reality but Jack was eager to become the space officer.


Upon arrival of the letter at NASA HQ and received by Dr. James L. Green who is currently acting as the Director Head of the Planetary Science Division responded quickly in an encouraging words through an official NASA letter saying "position is really cool and is very important work" adding to his statement "It's about protecting Earth from tiny microbes when we bring back samples from the Moon, asteroids and Mars ...It's about protecting Earth from tiny microbes when we bring back samples from the Moon, asteroids and Mars" finally Dr. James said that he hopes that he will "study hard and do well in school ...We are always looking for bright scientists and engineers to help us ....We hope to see you here at NASA one of these days!"

Upon receiving the official response fro NASA Jack and his parents were so excited and thank full that the boy's father wrote a thank you email stating that he and his family are "big fans Of NASA" he wrote "Jack, of course, is pretty sure he’ll get the job...". Which he also shared with ABC News hoping that he will get a response, which he got, thank you NASA and ABC News!
